A computer lab that outlives the computers
Every seat is a small, sealed terminal. The computing happens on one managed server. Nothing to steal from the desk, one image to update.
One host, one switch, thirty seats
Everything the learner needs, nothing worth stealing
USB for keyboard, mouse and flash drives, audio for headphones, VGA or HDMI to the monitor, and one network port back to the switch. No internal storage, no fan, no moving parts — which is why it survives dust and heat, and why a failed unit is a swap rather than a repair.
Power, dust, theft and the patch cycle
Power is the deciding factor
A tower draws 65–200 W. A thin client seat draws 7–15 W. Across thirty seats that is roughly 0.4 kW instead of 3–6 kW — the difference between a lab a modest inverter carries through an outage and one that stops when the grid does.
Cheaper to buy, cheaper to run, cheaper to keep
A thin client seat costs a fraction of a tower PC — and unlike the purchase price, the saving repeats every year the lab is open.
Lower price per seat
A fanless terminal costs a fraction of a tower or all-in-one. The budget goes into one good server instead of thirty mediocre PCs.
About a tenth of the power
7–15 W per seat against 65–200 W for a tower — roughly 0.4 kW across thirty seats instead of 3–6 kW.
A far smaller UPS
Size the inverter for one server and a switch, not for thirty power supplies.
Fewer call-outs
No fans, no hard drives, no power supplies to fail. Most faults are a five-minute swap, not a repair bill.
One server, not thirty PCs
When performance runs out you upgrade the host. The seats stay exactly where they are.
One image to manage
Software, updates and anti-virus are applied once and every seat has them at next logon.
Typical desktop PC life span before replacement.
Less recurring hardware re-investment.
Lower operating and maintenance cost.
Ask for a costed side-by-side
Send us your seat count and we will price thin client against conventional PCs on the same page — hardware, power, backup power and the five-year refresh — so the comparison is yours to check rather than ours to claim.

Networks built on a unified foundation
Built on Ubiquiti UniFi, Ruijie Reyee and Cisco — surveyed, designed, installed and handed over documented, labelled and monitored.
UniFi, Ruijie Reyee and Cisco
We standardise on controller-managed platforms so switching, wireless and gateway are configured, monitored and updated from one console rather than box by box.
Ubiquiti UniFi
Our default for schools, campuses and multi-building sites. Gateways, switches and access points on one controller, with seamless roaming, guest portals and clean visibility of every client.
Ruijie Reyee
Strong performance per dollar where the budget is tight. Cloud-managed switching and Wi-Fi with mesh, self-organising setup and remote support — ideal for schools rolling out in phases.
Cisco
Where a tender, an existing estate or a corporate standard calls for it: enterprise routing and switching, advanced Layer 3, and equipment your auditors already recognise.
Working with an estate already built on another platform? We will extend it rather than insist on a rip-and-replace.
Structured cabling and managed switching
Cat6 / Cat6A
Trunking, faceplates, patch panels, tested to the outlet.
Cabinets & patching
Wall and floor racks, cable management, labelling, power.
Managed switches
UniFi, Reyee and Cisco gigabit and PoE, VLANs, link aggregation.
Backbone links
Building-to-building and riser fibre.
| Copper channel | Cat6 / Cat6A, 100 m maximum |
|---|---|
| Access speed | 1 Gbps to the desk, 10 Gbps uplinks |
| PoE | 802.3af 15.4 W · at 30 W · bt to 90 W |
| Segmentation | 802.1Q VLANs — staff, learner, voice, CCTV, guest |
| Handover | Labelled patching, port schedule, as-built docs |
The backbone outlives the equipment
Switches and access points get replaced every few years. Cabling done properly — certified to the outlet, labelled at both ends and recorded in a port schedule — carries the next three generations of equipment without being re-pulled.
Gigabit Wi-Fi, mesh and managed hotspots
Gigabit Wi-Fi
Access points planned to density, not floor area.
Mesh systems
Wireless backhaul where cabling is impractical.
Community hotspots
Managed access with vouchers and billing.
Unified management
UniFi or Reyee cloud controller for SSIDs, portals and firmware.
Bandwidth management
Shaping and quotas so one user cannot swamp the site.
WPA2 / WPA3
Enterprise authentication and separate guest networks.
Connecting sites conventional networks do not reach
Remote sites are our normal work
Rural schools, farms, clinics and mine sites sit outside conventional coverage. We commission the satellite link and the internal network together, so the connection reaches every classroom and office rather than stopping at the dish.
Tell us how many buildings, users and sites.
Security enforced from one console, not left to the user
The internet is laced with bots built to manipulate your data or steal financial information. We deploy Sophos and other tried and tested protection under central policy, with monitoring, backup and rapid response.
What we deploy and manage
Firewall & gateway
Sophos and Fortinet next-generation firewalls, content and threat filtering at the edge.
Managed anti-virus
Sophos, ESET or Kaspersky on every desktop, laptop, thin client and server, reporting to one console.
Spam & phishing filtering
Attachments and links screened before they reach the inbox.
VPN & remote access
Encrypted access for branches and staff working off site.
Backup & recovery
Online and physical copies, tested restores, ransomware rollback.
Surveillance management
CCTV on its own segment, storage sized to the camera count.
Monitoring & response
Alerting, patch status and a technician who answers.
Policy & staff awareness
Acceptable use, password and access policy, and training to match.
Sophos-led, vendor-honest
Sophos is our default for firewall and endpoint because one console covers both and the two talk to each other. Where a client already runs something else, or a tender specifies it, we deploy and manage that instead.
Synchronised, not stitched together
When the firewall and the endpoint agent are from one vendor, an infected machine can be isolated from the network automatically the moment it misbehaves — rather than waiting for someone to notice a report. That is the main reason we lead with Sophos on sites that have no existing standard.
Safe online backup and physical backup on site
Two copies in two places. One survives a fire, a flood or a theft; the other gets you working again this afternoon.
Safe online backup
Encrypted before it leaves the building and stored off site, so a break-in, a fire or ransomware on the network cannot reach it.
Physical backup on site
A local copy on hardware you own, because restoring hundreds of gigabytes over a Zimbabwean internet link is not a recovery plan on its own.
A backup nobody has restored from is not a backup
We follow the 3-2-1 rule — three copies, on two kinds of media, one of them off site — and we run a test restore on a schedule so you find out it works before you need it to.
Each layer stops something the others cannot
| Layer | Control | What it stops |
|---|---|---|
| Internet edge | Firewall, content filter | Malicious sites, intrusion attempts, unwanted traffic |
| Spam and phishing filter | Fake invoices, credential theft, malware attachments | |
| Network | VLAN segmentation | One infected machine reaching the whole estate |
| Device | Managed anti-virus | Malware, USB infections, unauthorised software |
| Identity | Password and access policy | Shared logins and dormant accounts |
| Data | Backup and tested restore | Ransomware, hardware failure, accidental deletion |
Start with a security review
We audit what is protecting the estate now — firewall rules, anti-virus coverage, backup status, who has administrator rights — and give you a written list of gaps in priority order, with what each one costs to close. No obligation to buy the fix from us.
Find out what is exposed before someone else does.

Which device for which seat
Most over-spend happens at the desk. This is how we advise before a bill of quantities is drawn.
| Seat | Recommended | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Computer lab / training room | Thin client | Lowest power and recurring cost; one image serves the room. |
| Reception, admin | All-in-one or thin client | Small footprint, tidy cabling. |
| General office | Desktop or AIO | Serviceable and expandable for all-day document work. |
| Management, field staff | Business laptop | Mobility with warranty and central management. |
| CAD, design, video | Workstation | Graphics and memory a shared session cannot give. |
| Server room | Rack or tower server | Redundant power, RAID storage, remote management. |
Genuine, warranted equipment
Supplied is not the same as installed
Equipment arrives imaged, named, joined, licensed, labelled and on the right network segment — with the old machine's data moved across. A box on a desk is not a deployment.
